Jordan Kuwait Bank served as a Platinum Sponsor of the fourth edition of GREEFIN Forum 2026, organized by the Association of Banks in Jordan under the theme “Public-Private Green Dialogue: A Strategic Tool for Reshaping Sustainability.” Held under the patronage of the Governor of the Central Bank of Jordan, the forum brought together officials, experts, representatives of the public and private sectors, and financial and international institutions to discuss the role of finance in supporting the transition toward a green and sustainable economy.
Haethum Buttikhi, Group Chief Executive Officer of Jordan Kuwait Bank, participated as a speaker in one of the forum’s sessions, titled “Sustainability in Jordan: A National Necessity, Not a Choice.” The session addressed the importance of strengthening cooperation between the public and private sectors, the role of financial institutions in directing capital toward green and sustainable projects, and the need to develop innovative financing instruments that can help accelerate the green transition.
Buttikhi said: “Sustainable finance represents a real opportunity to strengthen economic growth and responsible investment, while the banking sector plays a pivotal role in enabling this transition by providing appropriate financing solutions for sustainable projects and strengthening partnerships across different sectors. At Jordan Kuwait Bank, we believe that sustainability is an integral part of the future of the banking sector, and we remain committed to supporting projects that contribute to building a more resilient and sustainable economy.”
Buttikhi noted that the transition toward a more sustainable economy requires coordinated efforts among the government, the financial sector, and the business community, alongside appropriate regulatory frameworks and incentives to encourage greater investment in green projects. He also emphasized the importance of continued dialogue and knowledge exchange in further developing Jordan’s sustainable finance market.
Jordan Kuwait Bank is among the pioneering Jordanian banks in issuing green bonds to finance sustainability-related projects, reflecting its commitment to expanding responsible finance and supporting projects that contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. The Bank also continues to integrate sustainability principles across its business and operations and strengthen its environmental, social, and governance (ESG) practices.
The forum also saw the attendance and participation of a number of Jordan Kuwait Bank employees. Fadi Khalil, Head of Corporate Banking at Jordan Kuwait Bank and Head of the Green Finance Committee at the Association of Banks in Jordan, participated in a specialized session on financing the green transition through dialogue and partnership. This participation reflected the Bank’s commitment to building knowledge, raising awareness of green finance and sustainability concepts, and keeping pace with developments in this field at both the local and international levels.
The forum sessions addressed a number of topics related to the green transition, most notably the role of finance and investment in supporting sustainable projects, the development of green finance instruments, climate risk management, and strengthening public-private partnerships, helping translate national sustainability priorities into viable projects and investment opportunities.
The Bank’s sponsorship and participation in the forum reaffirm its commitment to supporting national efforts in sustainability and green finance and strengthening its role as an active partner in the dialogue on the future of sustainable finance in the Kingdom, while continuing to develop practices and financing solutions that support projects with economic, environmental, and social impact.
