The conference was held under the patronage of H.E. Dr. Adel Al-Sharkas, Governor of the Central Bank of Jordan. Attendees included Mohammed Safwat Raslan, Governor of the Central Bank of Syria, and Yahya Shunnar, Governor of the Palestine Monetary Authority. Officials from Arab and international financial and economic institutions also attended, alongside experts, investors, and business leaders.

Jordan Kuwait Bank was also represented in the conference program. Ibrahim Bisha, Head of Treasury and Financial Institutions, spoke at a session on banking sector development and financial stability. The discussion covered updates to banking regulations in line with international standards, as well as governance, financial infrastructure, payment systems, and digital transformation. Participants also discussed rebuilding relationships with Arab and international banks.

Faris Al Hadidi, Director, Economist at Jordan Kuwait Bank, spoke at a session examining Syria’s economic outlook and prospects for recovery. The discussion focused on the changes needed to support sustainable growth, the private sector’s role in development and reconstruction, and ways to create a more attractive environment for Arab and international investment.

Haethum Buttikhi, Group Chief Executive Officer of Jordan Kuwait Bank, said: “Our sponsorship of the conference and participation in its sessions reflect the importance of cooperation across the Arab banking sector in supporting recovery and development, while creating conditions that encourage investment. Banks play a central role by providing financing, supporting financial stability, and building partnerships that can turn investment opportunities into projects that support sustainable economic growth”.

Buttikhi added that the conference brings regulators, financial institutions, investors, and the private sector together to discuss the needs of the next stage. It also provides an opportunity to exchange expertise and explore how the banking sector can better support economic activity and investment.

The two-day conference addressed investment, economic partnerships, reconstruction, and the role of the Arab private sector in supporting the Syrian economy. Discussions also covered capacity building and ways to strengthen economic and banking cooperation across the Arab world.

Jordan Kuwait Bank’s sponsorship and participation reflect its support for greater economic and banking cooperation across the region. The bank also aims to contribute to the exchange of expertise and to discussions on the opportunities and challenges surrounding development and investment.
