Jordan Kuwait Bank (JKB), in collaboration with Izzat Marji Group- Ever Green, announced that JKB’s Headquarters has been awarded the prestigious IFC’s Excellence in Design for Greater Efficiencies (EDGE) Green Building Certification, being the first bank in Jordan to get awarded this certificate, reaffirming the bank’s leadership in sustainability, commitment to building a greener future and adding a significant achievement to its sustainability journey.
An award ceremony was held, with the presence of JKB’s management and representatives from the International Finance Corporation (IFC) and Izzat Marji Group- Ever Green as the EDGE consultants, during which the EDGE Certificate was presented to JKB by Mr. Aftab Ahmed, the IFC’s Regional Director.
Developed by the IFC, member of the World Bank Group, EDGE is a globally recognized standard that measures energy, water, and embodied energy savings in buildings. By achieving this certification, Jordan Kuwait Bank’s headquarters now stands among leading institutions worldwide that are redefining the built environment through responsible and efficient design.

The certification demonstrates that Jordan Kuwait Bank’s headquarters has achieved measurable reductions in energy and water consumption, while also lowering embodied energy in the materials used for construction. These advancements highlight how sustainable design, and smart technology can work together to create buildings that are both environmentally friendly and economically viable.
"With IFC’s, support, Jordan Kuwait Bank is now the first bank in the country to be awarded an EDGE Buildings certificate for promoting sustainable construction practices and reducing emissions in line with the Economic Modernization Vision," said Khawaja Aftab Ahmed, Regional Director for the Middle East, Pakistan, and Afghanistan. Through this certification process, the bank is now using 26% less energy and consumes 45% less water, setting an example for others to follow suit. This new milestone builds on our long-standing partnership with Jordan Kuwait Bank and the introduction of Jordan’s first green bond which paved the way for investments in water and wastewater management."
