Sep 25, 2025

Jordan Kuwait Bank has announced its exclusive sponsorship of the launch of the first interactive Arabic glossary of sustainability and circular economy terms, issued by the Jordan Strategy Forum. The glossary was officially unveiled during a recent ceremony attended by H.E. Yarub Qudah, Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply, alongside a distinguished group of decision-makers, representatives from the public and private sectors, academics, and international organizations focused on the green economy.

The bank’s support for this pioneering initiative is part of its comprehensive sustainability strategy, which aims to promote transparency, embed circular economy practices, and contribute to building a unified knowledge base that enables institutions to produce clearer and more accurate sustainability reports, enhancing investor and stakeholder confidence.

Jordan Kuwait Bank CEO Haethum Buttikhi emphasized that sponsoring the glossary reflects the bank’s deep commitment to sustainability as an integral part of its responsibility to society, the economy, and the environment. He noted that the glossary will serve as a national reference, providing a unified language to help companies integrate sustainability principles into their operations and issue transparent reports that strengthen credibility. He further added that the initiative opens new horizons for growth and innovation, boosts the competitiveness of the banking sector in regional and global markets, and represents a pivotal step toward building a more resilient economy that balances profitability with positive social impact.

The launch event also featured an interactive panel discussion with Jordan Kuwait Bank’s Head of Corporate Banking, Fadi Khalil, alongside Mazen Wathaifi, CEO of the Amman Stock Exchange, and Dr. Ismael Hinti, President of Al Hussein Technical University, moderated by strategy and innovation expert Rami Karami.

During the discussion, Khalil presented the bank’s vision regarding the glossary’s role in advancing the financial sector and promoting sustainable finance practices. He highlighted that standardized terminology raises the level of disclosure in sustainability reporting and strengthens the ability of financial institutions to attract new investments directed toward the green economy. He noted that the glossary serves as a practical tool to help banks and companies develop more consistent and transparent policies and strategies, thereby reinforcing trust with both society and investors.

Speakers agreed that the glossary represents not only a knowledge reference but also a platform for collaboration between academia, the private sector, and governments, enhancing Jordan’s ability to play a leading role in advancing the transition to a green economy regionally and across the Arab world.

This glossary is the first of its kind in the Arab region. It was developed in collaboration with local and international experts in environmental sustainability and the Arabic language, aligned with internationally recognized standards. It has also been officially registered with the National Library Department to serve as an open and free reference that supports national policymaking and strengthens Arabic-language resources in the field of green economy.
